Option to Export Animated rig without Mesh, Textures or Materials
In 3DXchange7 the Export FBX button featured the option "Include Geometry" which if unchecked would exclude the Mesh and Textures from the export, which allowed for fast iterations to get the animation data added to an already configured Mechanim character in Unity. Now that IClone 8 does not offer this feature, nor will it export to 3DXchange7, I'm forced to Export an FBX mesh with the unnecessary bloat of textures and materials.
Problems: 1. The process of exporting from iClone takes longer that the 3DXchange7 FBX option due to the mesh, textures and materials, therefore iteration time is lost in that process. 2. The process of importing to Unity in order to extract the animation clip and assign it to the existing Animation Controller takes longer due to the Mesh data. 3. Before step #2, I have to also delete the textures folder if I exported right to a Unity Asset sub directory, otherwise Unity will import all the textures, which in a large project takes an excessive amount of time. 4. Disk space it wasted until you delete the textures folder.
STR: - import a character in iClone 8 - create an animation - click File > Export > Export FBX - select the Unity 3D Target Tool Preset
Expected Result: a toggle to "Include Geometry" would be present and would omit the Mesh, Textures and Materials from the export, leaving the exported FBX containing only the animation data.
