Optimized Settings for iClone Terrain Creation

Since some of the features or effects can not be exported as terrains for iClone, it is recommended to turn them off in EarthSculptor for more effectively editing. Please click the button in the Toolbar to invoke the Terrain panel.

Turn off LOD

When LOD is on, EarthSculptor displays terrain details based on the viewing distance, so the shape changes when you zoom in/out the camera view. Turning LOD on will help you if you are working with a lower performance computer. However, the constant changing of detailed shapes trades off with editing precision. It is highly recommended to turn off LOD option if your computer can handle real-time editing smoothly.

Turn Off Fog

Though EarthSculptor provides fog option, when fog is on, it obscures the landscape or adds bias to terrain color. It is highly recommended to turn it off while editing. The fog effect can be applied in iClone.

Turn Off Underground

The Underground feature may show you the bottom (Height = 0) of the terrain for reference. Therefore, you may refer to it to know the total height of the surface of your terrain in iClone.

The underground can not be exported to iClone, even if you turn it on in EarthSculptor. Disable underground so the terrain appears much closer to the result you will see in iClone. However, feel free to leave it on or off while editing.

Note:

  • The Wireframe and Grid feature are for reference only, you may optionally turn it on or off, though it is recommended to turn off them both.

  • Please refer to Color Mode for more information about blending Colormap and Detailmap.
