The "2021 iClone Lip Sync Animation Contest" has come to a close after 3 months of exciting competition. With the participation of dozens of amazing artists/animators, iClone and Character Creator have proven once again to be the leading choice for character animation production.
The "2021 iClone Lip Sync Animation Contest" was an amazing success that consisted of 456 submissions that prove how powerful the new iClone animation tools for facial, lip sync and body motions really are! Reallusion would like to congratulate each and every participant that brought creativity, style and knowledge to the event. "I used an iPhone XR for capturing a base performance, while simultaneously speaking over the audio clip, and video capturing my face, which allowed me to manually polish the expressions more easily, while aiming for hand-animated, keyframed facial animations.The process was pleasingly fast, as the motion capture was essentially used as an animation blocking, but without all the manual work. Polishing it by hand wasn't as fast, but it seems much more efficient overall than animating from scratch."
Judge's Comments
We suggest everyone to visit Liok's WIP, as this is a textbook demonstration of how character animation should be done.His character concept art precisely captures multiple facial expressions of the evil Ice Queen, allowing the artist to reference it to create believable facial animations, thanks to his sound skills with Blender and Reallusion tools.

Jessica Rabbit is probably the sexiest Disney cartoon character to date. And we are glad that Jasper Hesseling perfectly captured her sensual vibe! The lighting and the reflection on her hair, gloves, and dress also show refined details of this artwork. The body and lip-sync animation are also on point, and we are very impressed with the final rendering in iClone. Well done!

Judge's Comments
MetaHuman Rosie's facial expressions are probably the softest and the most gentle ones that we've seen from all the MetaHuman submissions. We love that Rosie demonstrates both vulnerability and strength at the same time. We also like the cloth design and physics of the soft cloth on the character, not to mention the superb lighting of the scene. Finally, Petar’s WIP is a fantastic tutorial if you wish to learn how to skillfully animate MetaHuman with iClone!
