2) To duplicate the same view as in the attached images: 2.1) Move the scrubber to FRAME #2556 2.2) Verify you are using Camera = "Frame 2556"
3) "Save MI Scene" 3.1) Render in Iray
4) You will see the license plate is using the image from the headlights
ADDITIONAL NOTES: A) The V-shaped tail lights should be bright. They have the wrong textures applied too. B) There is also an error on the GLASS. It is more visible in some other images, attached. See the "checkered" pattern in a couple places, and the "gray" look of the rear passenger window. C) I hand-edited the .mi file, replacing the reference to IrayImage_41.jpg with IrayImage_44.jpg, and it rendered the license plate correctly.
UPDATE about the red tail lights --- Apparently they are covered by "single-sided" surface which iClone can see through but Iray cannot. So the tail lights do not light up in Iray because of a modeling error. I should be able to fix that by using an Opacity map on the offending surface so Iray can see the red lights.
THE LICENSE PLATE AND GLASS WINDOWS ARE STILL AN ACTUAL ERROR.
I do NOT believe it is a "backface culling" issue, or anything related to the geometry or the material itself.
Repeating my Jan 13 comment:
Works = Iray Preview
Works = Iray "iClone Render"
FAILS = Iray "Save Mi Scene"
It actually ASSIGNS THE WRONG TEXTURE FILE. The "tail light" image is applied to the license plate, and a similar issue occurs on the glass. That is why I was able to easily "fix" the .mi file, simply by hand-editing the file to link the license plate to the correct image file.
The vast majority of textures are assigned correctly, but for some reason, some are assigned incorrectly.
