Since updating to Cartoon Animator 5.3, all my SVG files only import as a static "Root" image instead of a character with bones.
After updating Cartoon Animator to version 5.3, I encountered a persistent issue where all my SVG files, both old and new, fail to import correctly. Instead of importing as a character with recognizable bones, they are reduced to a static image labeled 'Root.' This issue did not exist before the update to version 5.3, as SVG files were previously automatically recognized as characters with bones.
Here is a step-by-step of my process:
I create or use an existing SVG file of a character (which worked fine in CTA 5.2). In Cartoon Animator 5.3, I select any import option for the SVG file. Upon import, the file is processed but only displays a static image labeled 'Root,' without any bones or character structure. When I repeat the process using a PSD file instead of an SVG, the import works perfectly. I have tried different SVG export settings in Adobe Illustrator and tested both old and newly created SVG files, but the issue persists. The issue also occurs if I start with a generic character, make edits, save it as an SVG file, and then attempt to import it. I have recorded a 2-minute video that clearly demonstrates the problem, and here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X91FFyFKuw4. Please advise on a solution or if rolling back to version 5.2 would be necessary to resolve this issue.
Thanks for your reply and feedback.
The SVG output in Illustrator 2024 changes the existing structure. Unfortunately, the only possible solution is to revert to Illustrator 2023. Please use Illustrator 2023 until this issue is resolved.
Check the official Adobe site for ways to change your version of Illustrator.
