Also sculpting with smooth mesh by subdivision although will be slower, it will conform the smoothness and adding or subtracting mass better and will ultimately show us what the optimal high poly smooth state will look like. Currently in sculpt mode it seems to disable smooth mesh by subdivision. It's odd that smooth mesh is shown below edit mesh but enabling it seems to do nothing, if wireframe render mode is any indication the the resolution is supposed to change, you will see that is stays low resolution.
