It would be excellent if this productivity improvement could be made.
i.e. in simple terms:
1. select one or more props in a scene
2. right click to display a menu that has options
e,g,
Replace prop(s)
3. A window would appear where you could , for each prop you had selected, be able to select which prop would replace it. And if the existing attributes would apply or not, e.g. animations, sounds etc.

This would solve several issues inc. the scenario where you quickly previz scenes and need to replace many placeholder assets with final assets. And in many cases keep prop settings/animations. Default pivot and origin points would be the same as the original object it is replacing.

This could also apply in similar fashion to replacing characters and backdrops.
