According to the Reallusion website, Leap Motion is still an option:
https://mocap.reallusion.com/iclone-motion-live-mocap/leap-motion.htmlThe information on this page says: "Leap Motion Profile for iClone only supports Leap Motion Controller 1 & Orion v4.0 or v4.1 SDK."
The Reallusion site sends you to this page to download the SDK:
https://leap2.ultraleap.com/downloads/Ultraleap no longer supports this SDK nor distributes it.
https://developer.leapmotion.com/releases/leap-motion-orion-410-99fe5-crpglFinally, in the recesses of Reallusion FAQs is this link, pointing to a legacy version of the SDK:
https://kb.reallusion.com/Product/53022/Where-do-I-download-the-Leap-Motion-controller-SDK?KBkeyword=leap+motionUnfortunately, this link initially comes up as broken, but if you copy paste it into the browser, it works.
Requests:
1. Upgrade iClone to work with Leap Motion 2 seamlessly.
2. If there are no plans to upgrade Leap Motion on your current roadmap, please delete it from your website. I found a V1 Leap Motion controller brand new and decided to get it, and learned the hard way I was going to have to dig for drivers and have to back in software to make it work. I finally got the FTP to work after searching everywhere. I have not installed everything, so not sure if this thing is going to work.
3. As a very minimum, remove all links to Ultraleap from Reallusion webpages, as the V1 software is no longer supported nor distributed by the vendor.
Thank you, Robbie
Final thought: I am teaching myself animation using iClone. I do, so far, prefer this environment over the Open Source stuff out there. I suggest the organization look at road mapping in order to focus developers. I see a trend where new capabilities come in but are not further developed under the existing functionality. Rather a totally new way to do something for similar functionality is introduced. As a result, things like Leap Motion are brought in, and the developers stop looking at it for upgrade to V2, yet it still appears on the sales side. To me iClone is the Apple of animation. Open Source is a beast of different plug-ins. iClone, to me, should strive to have the one best way to achieve a function and focus on keeping each function upgraded to the one best way. Otherwise, the model becomes as messy as Open Source. In the organization I work in, if developers are not given roadmap curbs, they chase the latest shiny penny, one after the other vs good clean functionality. As much as I hate it, it seems the software subscription service is the only way forward. I hate the monthly fee from Adobe. But good grief the quality I am getting in return.
