Importing ABC ( Alembic ) files from Marvelous Designer crashes iclone!

Hi, I have a project with a prop (dress) in Iclone7 and the same dress was animated (simulated) in Marvelous Designer - when I try to import the alembic file from MD ( with prop selected, without prop selected, with import function or python script) -> Iclone7 always crashes - no message, just gone!

I uploaded the abc file and obj of the prop as well as the project file (link in the txt file I attached here) please help me out with my alembic workflow with iclone! Thnx

Hi there, 

After a lot of trial and error, I found out that there is an option in the export settings of Cinema4D to export alembic files, that can be imported in Iclone7 without crashing:
In the export settings for Alembic, check the "Merge Generated" checkbox at the bottom. That ABC then can be imported to Iclone, Unreal, and other DCC - as far as I have tested it.
So my workaround at the moment is to open the alembic files from Marvelous to Cinema, then re-export an Alembic from there and import it in Icclone - :)

Hi Appventa,

I'm very sorry that I export cloth without motion and can import it to iClone,when I export the cloth with motion,iClone will crash.I choose Alembic(HDF5).

I have tried exporting both alembic options - ogawa seems to work better with other DCC ... with AND without UVs & textures, thin & thick... iclone always crashes.

-> how do you manage to export from MD and import to IC ? -> can you make a capture with your workflow?? that would help
