Normally is F used for "frame selected".
So it needs maybe another hotkey, which frames the selected item, just by dollying closer with the camera (and not changing angle).

In bigger scenes is navigation very hard, when you want to see an object close from the same perspective angle.
Also it's a standard function which people are used for camera navigation.
