1. Custom Thumbnails automatically take a snapshot of the whole scene now, instead of just the prop we are trying to save.
eg In CA4, it worked well when custom characters and props automatically generated an image of that asset as a thumbnail. And then if we wanted a custom screenshot as the thumbnail to include anything else in the scene.. eg, perhaps another prop which helped to make a set, like left and right snow ski's... we could choose the custom thumb manually.
But now in CA5, the automatic custom thumbnail saves an image of the whole scene... which is a problem for pro creators who create props on the fly... eg, every time we drag a new png into a scene during the creation of a long project... now in CA5 we also need to hide everything just to take a screenshot of the asset. So the new method seems to only benefit creators who make a prop, save it and then delete it to make something else (rather than animators who make and change things from scene to scene).
2. Whenever a multi-sprite prop begins with an empty sprite (eg for many of the SFX props in the marketplace) they are automatically generated (for the creator of the prop) with a blank Thumbnail... so a pack of special effects often has a set of blank thumbnails... which makes it impossible to find the look I need in a scene, unless I specifically remember the name for each file (which is also challenging because many of the best props have weird, funny, irrelevant or deliberately mis-spelled names).
Suggestion: Would it be possible for the auto-generated thumbnails of multi-sprite props (where the first one is blank) to randomly choose a sprite from the middle of the set of sprites?
3. The Thumbnails in CA5 are now so low rez and pixellated that it is often nearly impossible to see what they are. Obviously this must save a lot of time and memory, which is greatly appreciated... but would it be possible to have a tick-box which lets us click to (at least) CA4 quality thumbnails every time we need to see the details? Because even the quality of thumbs in CA4 was often far too small to see without opening them... especially for permutations of similar characters.
Or perhaps, ironically, you already have such a feature, but perhaps I can't see it..? LOL
Hi, some tips to resolve your problem
1. You can disable quick thumbnail generation in the setting of the Content Manager menu.
2. Right-click on the object, and then click on "Capture thumbnail". Therefore you can re-capture your thumbnail.
3. This should be related to the first question. After disabling quick thumbnail generation, the images should become clearer. Alternatively, you can check the content info in the right-click menu.
