This behavior is typical for any version of iClone (including iClone 6 and 7).
The Start(,) button takes a lot longer to move timeline scrabber to the beginning , than to move it to the end with End button.
The more intense project is, the longer it takes to go to frame 0, while it does not affect move to the end at all.
And it gets worse on projects with many characters, poly count and popcorn FX. Up to the point where the use of Start(,) button consistently crashes iClone.
I can share the project, but generally, you may load ANY intense/heavy project and move scrabber to the end and then back to frame 0 and see the time difference it takes to move it.

No, that tweak did not work.
However, I narrowed it down to one particular hair Physics. It might be a bug.

Hide the hair in scene manager (or in Display settings), and then play and then use Start button. The project would crash.
If you make hair visible, project does not crash.
If you disable hair Physics, the project does not crash while using Start regardless of the hair visibility.
I could not figure it out and this is only happening with this particular hair.
