Content manager disarray
Iv'e listed this under IC8 but as content manager is common to IC8 and CC4 this appies to both
The way template content is installed is disorganised and illogical.
I just spend 3 minutes looking for a hair prop in a system that claims to make content management easy
a word search only works if you know the name of the file, and a general search for "Hair" is useless as the props are rarely called thier type
The folder naming is an irratic mess of type, description, and content creator name
e.g under hairGroup folders are called "beard" "Hair" "eyebrows" "SWAM" "Kohlrabi studio" some hair props are dropped into the "HairGroup" root directory.
"eyebrow" and "beard" are subsets of "hair" so why is "Hair" on the same directory level
The same type of hair prop can be found in both "hairGroup" and HairStyle" directories.
I've used the hair catagory as an example but this type of disorganisation is present in all other catagories, There is no consistant organisational structure control, with both reallusion and content creator content.
Eg the "Realistic Human Skin" pack has its Normal presets in three seperate directories on Three different levels Skin/Full Skin/ and Skin/Full Skin/Realistic Human Skin and Skin/Normal Effects Diverse catagorisation of same or similar types creates inherently subjective placing of assets.
It's almost impossible to find some assets in the item tab, due to the apprent randomness of the file structures and the packs tab has it's idiosyncrasies. Ive attached a screen grab of the pack tab showing a thumbnail of a coat in the Hair/hairStyle directory ( I know it's just a thumbnail for an actual hair directory, but it shows the lack of any standard methodology)
I'm not asking for user control over the template directories, just consistancy to the rules that govern it. So I can navigate the file structure without having to guess the mind set of the content creator.
I resisted content manager for this reason however IC8 and CC4 gives users no choice.
