I'm working on a character for which I used the Camila example as a base. I repeated the steps below with an unmodified version of the Camila example and also got the crash.
Steps:
In the scene I select the mesh for the body.
I click the merge materials button
I export with the settings in the attached image (have also tried with other resolutions and output formats, with the same result)
It's been two years and this still crashes. I'd have liked to seperate out the eyelashes, and merge materials together, but it causes all morph targets/blends to disappear. Why can't we choose what to merge via a material checklist rather than by asset? And why does merging the body just crash the program?

In the 4.2 version of CC...although CC4 doesn't crash during the merge uv process, once the process is complete, the character completely breaks to the point where no further edits can be added or used on the character further. Can't add a new pose, eyes, clothing, teeth, etc... And I love this feature and believe it's one of the most important features in CC4.

I should add I tried the same steps with the eye object and it worked correctly.
I also tried converting all of the base body mesh shaders to PBR before merging and it still crashed.
