AccuRIG Moves Mesh on import
When I send a character to AccuRig the resultant rig that is reimported to maya/Houdini is offset from the source mesh. Can you please make it so that the mesh maintains its positioning after rigging.

Greetings  Molly,

Thank you for that information.

In production, a rigging or character artist will get many updates from the modeling department. This model is generally singed off at a very specific location. This location should not change in the rigging process for several reasons.

These reasons can include but are not limited to;
Sending the unrigged model to FX or lighting for blocking - if the model changes position this work may become invalid

Sending the unrigged model to clothing modeling/draping or hair generations - if the model is moved when rigged none of this will line up

Receiving new parts of the model or updated topology from the modeling department - The modeling department dose not work on the rigged model so they would build these parts to the unrigged mesh, if that mesh moves during rigging, then the riggers have to change the modelers work. At that point it is ambiguous who "owns" the asset. this can lead to a logistical nightmare when trouble shooting assets.

as you can see. This seems like a small problem until it is examined in a larger scope.

Also, if your are doing the transformation math to move the model to the joints. Is math not two way street? Can you not do the inverse of this calculation to put it back?

Thank you for engaging this topic with me, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!

Hi bryanebentley81,

Because HIK bones were added after AutoRIG , the change of mesh position is expected.Can you tell me why you want the mesh overlap?

Could you clarify the comment " put it on the YouTube". Am I to make my own youtube video on the issue or add a comment to a current Reallusoin post? you can also see this issue in Michel Pavlovich's Goblin video were he has to manually line up the imported accessories in CC4
