Dirty, muddy boots, intensive use of the famous "brodequin model 1916", worn by the French army and some American volunteers during the Great War.
The leather boot was studded. This model, ancestor of the modern combat boots, is a modification brought in 1916 of the original brodequin conceived in 1912, whose improvements were carried out with the strong of the engagements.
