Unreal Live Link appears to work ok when using it with a character. It works as expected. However, it appears to work exactly the opposite way when using it with an imported mesh. I could not reproduce this issue with the default iClone props or characters
Using:
iClone 8.33
Unreal Engine 5.3.2
Unreal Live Link 1.22.2217.1
Before following the steps below, be sure to have both auto setup and live link plugins installed and enabled.
To reproduce:
1) Create a new iClone project.
2) Import the alien fighter mesh into the project (This mesh is free and can be obtained from here:
https://www.cgtrader.com/cgpitbull) I've attached it to this bug report for your convenience.
3) Add a default Camila iAvatar to the project.
4) Open Unreal and create a new project. I used the default empty film/tv template
5) Move around the area a bit far away. My coordinates are roughly 28k, 56k, 2k
6) From the "Place Actors" panel, add a cube to the scene at the viewer location. This will be our reference mesh.
7) Right click the cube and select "Transfer to iClone -> Transfer to iClone"
8) Back in iClone, select the spaceship mesh and click "Align To" toolbar button
9) Select the cube
10) Select x,y,z and reference point "Center"
11) click OK
12) In the Unreal Live Link plugin tab, select Transfer
13) Scene mode, do not include animation
14) Select ONLY the ship under "Prop"
15) Click "Transfer File"
16) Back in Unreal, the ship will appear next to the cube
17) Click on it and observe the location coordinates (0,0,0)
18) In iClone, click the "Link" tab of the Live Link plugin
19) Ensure only the ship is selected in the list
20) click "Activate Link"
21) Observe the ship disappearing from UE5 viewport.
22) Attempt to reset the location and note that it won't let you.
23) Disable the active link and now reset the coordinates. It will allow you.
Now perform steps 8-23 again but this time with the Camila character. Note the differences. Live Link is not really usable for this and other models.
Thanks!
