The Sprite Editor panel has no toolbar at the top. -- Stage Mode: Spline Dummy (or other character) highlighted. -- Right-click on it. Select: Sprite Editor. -- Sprite Editor visible: This is a framed dialogue box with title, 3 lines of text, release button, and* a thin rectangle with two icons inside (01 and Empty).
(*) QUERY: shouldn't there be a toolbar just above the rectangle? It always(?) appears in tutorials and manual. PROBLEM: (a) See Query above. (b) Dbl-clicking on the 01 icon has no effect. (c) Thus, because of "(a)" and "(b)" I cannot import a new image to replace the dummy spline outline.
Sorry if this is some simple mistake on my part - I am still trying to understand the interface.

Thanks for your feedback.
Unfortunately we can't reproduce the issue.
Please check the following:
1. Apply Dummy Spine and make sure it is selected
2. Open Composer
3. Doubleclick on a Bone to open the Sprite Editor
4. Click the "Add new Sprite" button to import an image
