Issue 7870
Substance overlay in iClone 7 marred by underlying normals
Hi I'm creating a blood texture substance pack that is utilised in iClone 7 and I have found that the underlying normals generated in iClone 7 can still be seen through the substance overlay. My settings for the blood over lay normals is 'copy' which should hide the detail below. However the skin normals are reflected on the surface of the blood which should be smooth and liquid looking. I have tried several different blending modes in Substance Designer but cannot overcome the bump look of the blood when inside iClone 7. Any ideas of what I need to do to fix this. Thanks.

Thanks lianchiu. I have sorted it now. I was using the standard blend node in Designer. After 8-9 months away from designer I forgot to use Normal Blend when blending the normals. Blood is nice and glossy now. Sorry to have wasted your time. Cheers

No problem! Glad to know it helps.

There might be two factors that's causing the issue, basic normal and micro normal (DHS). If it's the basic normal (check by turning the normal map strength off) that's causing the issue, go back to Substance and export a corresponding normal map to apply it in IC. If it's the micro normal that's causing the issue (you can check by turning the micro normal strength off), that means you'll need to draw a micro normal mask map.
