DOF affects visibility of particles

You can see that the particles are still visible but it changes layer order and ends up behind the spaceship.
Changing the Focus Distance moves the particle emitter somehow.

OS: Windows 10

Tonight I discovered the same problem, which only seems to occur with specific projects, where the particles disappear completely with DOF enabled. 

Also interesting: for me it works fine in iClone 7.41.2525.1, but it is broken in the latest version.
