Issue 445
Better Soft Cloth Rendering
The current Soft Cloth engine is fairly good but it tends to create a lot of poke through during the rendering process. For example, a mini skirt prop that is attached to the hip (and held in place by the prop's weightmap) can start in a proper position where there is no poke through. However, if the character is animated (e.g. dance), the skirt tends to rip instead of move. For example, if the character's legs are opened far apart during the dance, the skirt cloth should normally "ride up" a bit and the drop down when the legs come back closer together. However, in iClone, the cloth, typically, just rips instead. In other cases when the cloth bunches up it tends to become a "hot mess" as opposed to unbunching (releasing) when given the opportunity to do so.
In theory, it should be possible to create non-conforming clothing (such as a coat) using Soft Cloth and have it bend with the character as the character moves. However, I have tried this on a number of occasions with different material selections and was not able to achieve this. Either the prop clothing tore apart when the character was animated, or it sort of melted or dropped down immediately.
