The limit of collision shapes is per character. For example, if you have 8 G6 characters, each G6 character can use up to 16 Collision Shapes.
Is it limited to 16 collision shapes per character, or per scene? e.g. if I have 8 G6 characters, does that mean only 2 collision shapes each of the G6 avatars..? (I use mostly toonmakers, monster workhop critters and G5 characters that I made thru 3DX.)
By default that we set Collision Shape to 16 parts of the body and all these body parts are marked as B (please see screenshot 2). However, not every Collision Shape needs to be activated, the following steps can help you to get better result: ※ To turn off Collision Shape of body parts that you don’t need, you can click the part and uncheck the box for “Activate Selected Part” ※ To delete the unnecessary shapes, you can select the shape under “Select Shape” and click “Delete shape” button ※ Select any part of the character (e.g. Left Hand ), press "R" on keyboard, and then you can resize the Collision Shape Please noted that it may take a few minutes to get the best result. In addition, we can provide you a better way to deal with this problem: ※ Apply a random character and apply a capsule (.iProp) which is most suitable for this character ※ Go to Modify panel, check the box for “Activate Physics”, click the button of “Static” ※ Then set “Bound Type” to Capsule, set “Bound Axis” to X/Y/Z (It depends on the shape of the Capsule), move the Capsule to the character, make sure to cover the whole body ※ Apply a random physics cloth with white weight map, then click to play
A reply from Reallusion. Awesome! QUESTION FOR REALLUSION: Is that 16-shape limitation an actual PhysX limitation, or is it due to iClone's implementation of PhysX? I did some searching, and didn't find that limit in any Nvidia documentation, but maybe I didn't know where to look.
Hi dogged2003, iClone uses the Nvidia PhysX physics engine to drive its physical simulation calculations and perform all collision calculations, only 16 “Collision Shape” can work when running the simulation, in other words, the upper limitation of “Collision Shape” is 16. Thank you very much for your feedback, we will add message to warn that the upper limitation of “Collision Shape” is 16.
